2/3: 70-52 over #9 Cincy here. 27, 12 for Jack, 13, 11 for Pry, 11, 5, 5 for Mars, 8, 7, 7 for Sear. 47 RBs, 8 TOs.

2/7: 82-65 at Houston. 26, 11 for Jack, 15, 4, 6 for Fox, 6, 13 for Pry.

Will Mars injured his wrist. Out about a week. Anes will start. Of course we play 2nd place East Carolina next.

2/10: Wow! 91-39 over #19 East Carolina here. Never expected that. 18, 6, 3 for Jack, 18, 3, 3 for Anes, 14, 5 for Fox. +20 RBs, +10 TOs. We shot 48.7%, they shot 24.5%.

Demonstrations in favor of capitalism in Toronto, and, of course, demonstrations against capitalism in Toronto.

2/12: 23-2, 13-1, #1, #1. 2 up on East Carolina, 3 on Memphis, 5 or more on the rest.

Jack is #5 and Pry #10 on the Norton list.

2/13: 79-44 at South FL. 27, 5, 2, 3, 3 for Jack, 15, 4, 6, 4 for Anes, 10, 11, 4 for Sear, 10, 9 for Pry.

2/15: 76-60 at Central FL. 14, 12 for Perk, 12, 10 for Fox, 14, 4, 2 for Jack, 6, 11 for Pry.

Mars is back, but we’re staying with Anes.

2/17: 67-35 over #20 ranked Memphis. 28, 7 for Jack, 13, 11 for Pry, 7, 11, 6 for Sear. 54 RBs, 10 TOs.

26-2, 16-1, #1, RPI #1. We now have a 3 game lead, with one to play.

2/24: 86-66 at Temple to end the regular season. 18, 12, 3, 4 for Pry, 18, 4, 2 for Jack, 14 each for Fox and Anes.

Ram Jack hurt his wrist. He’s out about a week but we don’t play again until 3/10.

Toronto is getting to be a mess. Both sides are being very vocal. Lots of demonstrations and such.

3/5: 27-2, 17-1, #1, RPI #1. +22.3 PPG, +12.6 RBs, +7.6 TOs, +6.5 assists, +3.3 blocks, +3.7 steals. #1 in RBs, #2 in PPG, #3 in TOs and Points Allowed, #4 in assists, blocks, #7 in steals allowed, #8 in assists allowed.

We lose two to the NBA draft, Tom Sims, who doesn’t play, and superstar Ram Jack, who we were lucky to have for 2 seasons.

3/9: #8 seed Tulane, 13-15, 8-10, in the round of 8.

3/10: 80-57. 22, 15 for Pry, 24 for Jack, 13, 8, 3 for Sear.

#5 seed Houston, 17-11, 10-8, in the semis.

3/11: 90-69 over Houston. 26, 5, 4 for Fox, 18, 3 for Jack.

#3 seed, #23 ranked Memphis, 20-11, 12-6, for the title. We won by 20 there, then 32 here.

3/12: 78-63. 37, 4 for Jack. 38 RBs, 7 TOs.

We should be the #1 overall seed for the first time.

#1 overall. We play 14-17 Grand Canyon.

3/16: 72-55 in a game that wasn’t that close. 26, 6 for Jack, 16, 7 for Perk, 11, 7, 6 for Sear.

#9 seed Western KY, 22-10, in the 2nd round.

3/18: 87-64. 27, 13 for Jack. Great bench play. 46 RBs, 8 TOs.

Mars hurt his hand. He’s iffy for our next game.

#4 seed, #13 ranked Louisville, 23-8 in the Sweet Sixteen.

Now the Toronto debate focuses on who gets to decide. There’s talk of a referendum but a huge group wants the referendum to be in all 8 communities. The argument is that Toronto going capitalist affects everyone so everyone should vote. Toronto feels only their community should vote.

3/23: 99-70. They stayed close for about 22 minutes. 42, 12 for Jack, 11, 16 for Pry, 10, 9, 3 for Fox. 55 RBs.

#3 seed, #12 ranked Oklahoma, 27-7, in the Elite Eight. Interestingly, it’s the #1 seed vs. #3 in all 4 regions.

3/25: 88-56 and never a contest. 21, 13, 2, 2, 2 for Pry, 19, 4, 5 for Jack, 21 for Anes, 10, 9, 3 for Sear. 45 RBs, 9 TOs. And we’re back to the Final Four, against #3 seed, #5 ranked UMass, 33-2. They upset #2 ranked Florida.

The #3 seed won in all three other regions, so it’s #9 ranked Texas vs. #10 Nevada in the other game.

4/1: 91-62. We have just sailed through this tournament so far. 46, 5, 3, 2, 2 for Jack, 14, 12 for Pry. 42 RBs, 8 TOs.

Sol Pry hurt his shoulder. He’ll play, but not at 100%. We play #9 Texas, 31-6. Texas’ starting PF, 2nd leading scorer and #1 rebounder broke his toe in today’s game. He’s out for the final.

4/3: 74-46, we repeat, and we were never challenged in the post season! 23, 6, 3, 4 for Jack, in his last game. 9, 12 for Pry in HIS last game. 47 RBs, 7 TOs.

4/4: Awards: Ram Jack was tourney MOP and 2nd team All American. He should have been 1st, and Pry should have been 2nd. Outrageous! I got national COY again. In conf., Jack was Coy, and he and Pry made 1st team. Sears was
Defensive POY and 2nd team.

4/23: We ask for a facilities upgrade. No.

36-2 and our 2nd straight national title. Losing both Jack and Pry, as well as Dil Anes will make a threepeat tough, but we have a terrific recruiting class coming in: #1, 3, 7, 8, 12, so we’re in the hunt.

Overall, I’m 546-114, .827.

Nonbinding referendum in all 8 communities. Yes means Toronto moves to a money system, No means things stay as they are. It will be held on 5/13.

5/1: Preseason #1.

5/13: Referendum results are in: Status quo won. 59.6% in Toronto, and everywhere from 68.3% to 88.1% elsewhere.

5/16: The people favoring a money system are not quitting.

They continue the publicity campaign. The general feeling is that no one is hungry, no one is homeless, no one is suffering. We all have everything we need.

6/5: One great PF in the transfer pool. We’re going for him.

6/9: Louisville got the PF. No one else worth chasing.

6/26: 5 scholarships to fill. We want 3 bigs, 2 guards. Looking at 14.

Ram Jack only went 4th in the draft. Pry went #17.

7/7: Public debate in Toronto between 3 advocates for a money system and 3 for the status quo. Most people thought the status quo people nailed it. Again, mostly because we all have everything we need. No one is suffering. The
money side talks of luxury, mansions, things like that. Most people aren’t interested, and most believe that for that to happen there would inevitably be poverty, and probably lots of it.

8/7: 7 on the Norton list: #2 PF Ad Sear, #7 PF Jem Fox, #8 PG Jin Pool, #9 SF Don Myle, #10 PG Will Mars, #11 C Will Drex, #26 C Ray Perk.

8/21: We offer to 2 PGs, an SF, 2 PFs.

9/11: PG Dan Amm, #7, commits.

9/18: PF Erik Nick, #1, PF Clay Stan, #3, SF Sam Young, #4, and PG Jam Barr, #6, commit.

We’re at the Hawaiian Shootout again.

10/2: 1st day of practice.

The Toronto money economy side is still doing all that it can to make its case. I’m not sure that it’s getting anywhere.

11/6: 7 player rotation: At guard senior Will Mars, junior Jin Pool, and frosh Lin Faul will play about the same number of minutes with the latter two starting.

Frosh Don Myle starts at SF.

Soph Jem Fox and frosh Art Tong, who may be our best player, are inside, with Fox playing some SF, and junior Ray Perk backing up at PF and C, and playing about as much as Fox.

Amazingly, Ad Sear is not in the rotation, at least for now.

There’s a backlash in Toronto. People favoring the current system are talking about poverty, want, and need. They are discussing that for everyone who rises above the herd in a moneyed society several must fall into poverty.

11/15: 84-58 over #25 OK ST here. 21, 14 for Center Art Tong, 16, 4, 7, 5, 3 for guard Will Mars, 13, 8 for SF Don Myle, 11, 2, 4 for guard Lin Faul. 45 RBs, 8 TOs.

11/18: 94-70 over #8 seed Kansas ST in the first round of the Hawaiian Shootout. 19, 8 for Tong, 18, 7, 5, 3 for Mars, 13, 2, 6, 2 for Faul, 3 others in double figures.

#4 seed, #17 ranked Kent ST, 2-0, next.

11/19: 76-59. 13 each for Tong, Pool, and Perk.

#2 seed, #2 ranked Indiana for the title.

11/20: 77-75. We were 10 down early. The 2nd half was back and forth all the way. It ended with Ray Perk hitting an 8 footer with two people all over him and no call. Our bench won it for us, 27, 27, 8 to 11, 8, 3. Perk had 12 and 15, Myle 18, 10, 3, Fox 13. Tong played only 9 minutes due to calls- most of them terrible calls. Fox fouled out in 19 minutes.

All 5 recruits signed.

Another debate in Toronto, with one side talking about people having a chance to live in luxury, and the other talking about no one needing to live in poverty.

11/22: 92-58 at North Carolina. They’re in a rebuilding year, but still! 32 for Pool, 11, 20, 3, 3, 3 for Tong. 52 RBs, 9 TOs.

11/25: 74-61 at Michigan. 21, 13, 2, 4, 12 blocks for Tong, a very rare triple double! 14, 4 for Fox.

11/27: 6-0, #1, RPI #17.

11/29: 76-50 over #4 Louisville here. Back to back triple doubles for Tong (Author’s note: This has never happened for me and I’ve been playing this game since 2007.)- 21, 13, 11 blocks. 19, 4, 4 for Myle, 15, 3 for Mars.

12/2: 63-60 at #24 NC ST. 17, 19, 2, 2, 6 for Tong. 18 TOs almost did us in.

12/6: Wow! 76-43 over #2 Indiana here. 12, 10, 9 for Tong, who barely missed his 3rd triple double. 17, 4, 5 for Faul, 10, 10 for Perk. 52 RBs.

12/13: 95-42 over New Mexico ST here. 25, 7, 6 for Mars, 12, 15 with 5 blocks for Drex.

12/20: 90-60 over #6 UCLA here. 24, 16, 3 for Tong, 19, 4, 5 for Mars.

12/25: We end pre-conf. play at 11-0, #1, RPI #1. +23.7 PPG, +15.6 RBs, +5.6 TOs, +6.9 assists, +6.0 blocks, +2.6 steals.

12/27: 81-51 over Temple here, to start conf. play. Team effort with double doubles for Tong, Fox, and Myle, 10, 3, 6 for Mars, 8, 10 for Perk, 11, 4, 2, 2 for Pool. 56 RBs, 8 TOs.

Massive earthquakes in 3 Chinese provinces, 7.8 on the Richter scale. We are sending aid.

12/28: Thousands dead and missing in China. Extensive property damage.

12/30: 92-57 at Tulane. 23, 9, 8 for Mars, 17, 12, 3, 4, 4 for Tong, 16, 5, 2 for Perk.

Widespread shortages of food and potable water in the 3 Chinese provinces. We’re doing what we can, but it isn’t nearly enough.

12/31: Aftershock, which was really a new earthquake, measuring 7.2 on the Scale. It involved the 3 communities and part of a 4th. This was the most widespread earthquake in area ever detected. The toll in lives, injuries, and property damage is on a scale never seen before.

1/3/2595: 63-34 over East Carolina here. 16, 15, 3, 2, 3 for Tong, 8, 10, 3 for Fox. 58 RBs.

We are averaging 47.6 RBs per game. 2nd in the nation Louisville is averaging 38.7. Art Tong is leading the nation in both RBs and Blocks.

1/6: 101-77 at Houston.22, 5, 3 for Perk, 14, 4, 4 for Faul, 7 others had between 7 and 11. +19 RBs.

An estimated quarter of a million deaths in China. Given that the 4 communities involved had a total population of about 400,000 that is incredible. Of the roughly 150,000 survivors about 1/3 are injured. The plan is to relocate survivors to the 10 unaffected communities.

1/8: 15-0, 4-0, #1, RPI #1.

1/9: 73-41 over Cincy here. 28, 13 with 9 blocks for Tong, 12, 8 for Mars. 52 RBs.

1/11: 71-59 over Memphis here. 19, 6, 4, 4, 3 for Tong, 15, 3, 3 for Faul.

1/13: 78-55 at SMU. 21, 6, 7 for Mars, 16, 14 for Tong. 48 RBs, 4 TOs.

It doesn’t appear that anyone in conference can compete with us- at least so far. 7 games in we are up 2.5 games on 2nd place.

1/17: 74-55 at 2nd place South FL. 6 in double figures. 18 RBs, 7 blocks for Tong. 10 RBs for Faul.

Relocation of the healthy Chinese survivors, and those with minor injuries is complete. There are still several thousand being treated for serious injuries.

1/20: 84-44 over Central FL here. 21, 5, 5 for Faul, 13, 2, 10, 2 for Mars.

Halfway through the conf. season we’re up 3.5 games.

Sub PF Ron Mall hurt his foot. Day to day.

1/24: 70-60 at Tulsa. 19, 21, 6 blocks for Tong, great guard play.

1/29: 21-0, 10-0, #1, RPI #1. +24.5 PPG (#2), +15.8 RBs (#1), +6.2 TOs (#3), +7.3 assists (#1), +5.8 blocks (#1), +4.4 steals. #1 in PPG Allowed, #3 in steals allowed, #4 in assists allowed. Tong remains #1 in RBs, Blocks, Double doubles, and Triple doubles.

Will Mars is #10 on the Norton list.

1/30: 85-53 over Tulane here. 27, 6 for Myle, 15, 14 for Tong, 12, 4, 8, 3 for Mars, 15, 3, 3, 5 for Pool.

4 game lead.

2/3: 82-84 at Temple in OT. They hit a 25 foot three at the buzzer. We were flat. We didn’t shoot well, 37.3% to 46.4%. But fouls were the difference. 22 on us 13 on them. They were 23-25, we were 10-13. 19, 6 for Faul, 15, 10 for
Perk, 12, 12, 3 for Tong, 15, 3, 2 for Myle.

2/5: 70-45 at East Carolina. 17, 12, 3 for Tong, 12, 2, 2, 4 for Myle, 13, 4 for Perk.

2/6: 8.1 earthquake in South Africa. Like the one in China it was extremely widespread, causing severe damage and many deaths in Namibia, Mozambique, and Madagascar. We are sending aid.

2/8: Total destruction in the communities in Namibia, Mozambique, and Madagascar. Rebuilding would essentially need to begin from the ground up. Everything is destroyed.

2/10: 90-71 over Houston here. 18, 9 for Tong, 16, 6 for Myle, 14, 12 for Fox, 14, 3, 9 for Faul.

2/12: 24-1, 13-1, #1, RPI #1. 4 game lead with 4 to play.

Will Mars is #14 on the Norton list.

We’re trying to help the survivors, treat the injured… But these people have no place to live, and there’s no food or water.

2/13: 78-66 at Memphis. 27, 19, with 6 blocks for Tong, 15, 6 for Fox, 7, 11, 3 for Myle. 51 RBs.

2/15: 78-32 SMU here. They scored 8 in the 2nd half. 23, 11 with 5 blocks for Tong. 13, 4, 10, 3, 2 for Mars, 11, 10, 3 for Myle, 10, 10 for Perk. 48 RBs, 3 TOs.

2/17: 78-71 at Cincy. 20, 5 for Faul. 5 in double figures. We led most of the way but could never really break away.

2/24: 74-49 at Central FL. Team effort. We led by as many as 28.

3/5: 28-1, 17-1, #1, RPI #1. +23.4 PPG (#3), +14.8 RBs (#1), +6.9 TOs (#2), +7.1 Assists (#3), +5.6 Blocks (#1), +3.5 Steals. #1 in PPG Allowed, #2 in Assists Allowed, #4 in Steals Allowed. We win the conf. by 6 games. Tong remains #1 in RBs, Blocks, Double doubles, Triple doubles.

Art Tong and Lin Faul go pro.

3/9: #9 seed Tulsa, 11-17, 6-12, wins the play in. We play them 1st.

Our geologists and seismologists are saying these recent earthquakes are something never seen before. They seem very different from previous earthquakes, being many miles in length, and being extremely powerful. There’s no way to know if we can expect more of them.

3/10: 64-53. Lackluster effort. We shot 32.8%.

#5 seed Temple, 13-15, 10-8, in the semifinal.

3/11: 67-65 and we escaped. They had the ball at the end and missed an open 15 footer. 16, 15 for Tong, 18, 5, 4 for Mars.

We’re not playing very well right now.

It’s #6 seed Cincy, 16-14, 8-10, for the title.

3/12: 79-52. We finally woke up. 17, 12 for Tong, 15, 6, 5, 3 for Mars, 13 each for Faul and Perk.

#1 overall.

3/16: 92-61 over 15-16 Robert Morris. 17, 14 for Tong. 4 others in double figures, 2 others with 8. 5 TOs.

#8 seed Oklahoma, 22-9, next.

3/18: 81-70. 22, 16 with 7 blocks for Tong. 57 RBs.

#5 seed, #14 ranked Duquesne,26-8, is next in the Sweet Sixteen.

3/23: 84-48. Team effort, 10 people scored, 7 between 7 and 15. 57 RBs, 12 TOs.

#3 seed, #8 ranked UMass, 28-4, in the Elite Eight. Again this year, all 4 Elite Eight games are between the #1 and #3 seeds.

3/25: 78-71. It was tied with 1:59 left. Then we went on a 9-0 run. 23, 23 with 8 blocks for Tong, 15, 10 for Perk, 14, 8, 4 for Faul. 54 RBs, 11 TOs.

Four #1 seeds in the Final Four. We’ll play #2 ranked Indiana, 31-5, for the 3rd time. We beat them by 2, and then by 33.

4/1: 91-63. 26, 5, 3 for Faul, 23, 8 for Fox, 12, 20, with 6 blocks for Tong. 57 RBs, 10 TOs.

#4 ranked UCLA, 32-5, for the title.

4/3: 82-58 and a threepeat. 18, 20 for Tong, 14, 4, 8 for Mars, 15 for Perk. We led all the way.

Massive earthquake centered near what used to be Trenton, New Jersey. Early reports of massive casualties and gigantic amounts of property damage in New Philly and New York, and somewhat lesser but still significant damage and death in Montreal and Cleveland.

4/4: Awards: Art Tong was tourney MOP, and Defensive POY. I was national COY. mIn conf., Art Tong swept, POY, Def. POY, Frosh OY, 1st team. Will Mars also made 1st team. Don Myle, Ray Perk, and Lin Faul all made 2nd team.

The damage to the 4 settlements is devastating, especially New Philly and New York, but bad in the other two as well.

4/5: Small earthquake 150 miles directly south of Detroit.

4/7: Reports of what appears to be the eruption of a super volcano north of Namibia. That would not be good.

4/8: Definitely a super volcano. This is devastasting. All of our efforts are now focused on short term, and then long term survival.

4/9: A major earthquake just west of what was Chicago. New Boston, Detroit, Toronto, and Milwaukee are all badly affected.

Every effort is now focused on finding a way to survive the earthquakes, and even more so, the super volcano. There will be no basketball, nor much of anything else for a long time to come.

My final record as a coach is 583-115, .835, for 20 years.

Wish us luck.

7/12/3828: The above record was found just east of the major river in the western continent. After translation, reading, and analysis we searched for other traces of the civilization that was here, and in the other locations mentioned, both on this continent and on others. We found a few things here and there, but no sign that anyone had survived.

I'd been reading this one for a while ... what the hell, lol! I thought my diaries were crazy from the old days ... either way, nice three-peat before the world came to an end ;)
