I REALLY need some advice on this one:

I've spent probably 2 days straight working on modifying the default roster file. I've been doing this in a copy I made of the DDS folder (a folder called DDS - Original -Copy). I have discovered that any copy I make of my modded database reverts back to the original database that came with the game. The players go back in order of ID# rather than alphabetical and the revisions I've made to their colleges and ratings are also reset to the default setup. The same thing happens if I rename the folder from "DDS - Original - Copy" to something else (i.e. "Hoopy NBA"). I noticed this today when I changed the folder name and my database was suddenly back to the default. I thought I'd lost all my work and couldn't figure out why. When I changed the folder back to "DDS - Original - Copy" the database switched back to it's modded state.

Why/how is my database changing when copied or put in a folder of a different name? This is blowing my mind. Is there anything I can do to stabilize the database so it won't keep undoing all my modifications??

The modded database is named "default" because I was working out of a copied folder and didn't see any reason to change the name at the time. I have a feeling that may be part of the problem, but I'm at a loss. I tried changing it to "read only" before copying it, but the copy is the default database. How can a copy be different than what you're copying? And why weren't my changes/saves permanent? How does the database even remember it's original settings after I've saved mods?

Good news, bad news.

I got around the database issue by copying my mod file into Gary's RosterFile download. I then imported it into the game. Now I've got another problem. I'm getting a RTE91 error. The first time I got the error the first time on Step 4 of 4 in the user creation process when I clicked "Save User". I then put a folder in the Saves folder that was the same as the name of my league ("NBA123"). Since that point I get the RTE91 error whenever I click finish. It happens while the "Creating League" pop up is visible and happens after two bars of the status bar are filled. I've done it five times in a row.

This is almost certainly an error in the database edits.

I hope so, because I can fix that if I can find it. The database is still 662 players with original names. I've changed some ratings, numbers, heights, and colleges in addition to the game ratings. Any idea on where a problem might arise?

I thought perhaps my dunk/post/drive/jump/3 numbers might not add up to 100, but all the instances I've found of this are players I didn't even edit so those aren't mine.

It could be a rating out of the acceptable range, an empty field, etc. There's no real way to tell other than checking the database for bad values.

It was a problem with the nonplayers database it seems. I fixed that and it loaded like a charm. I don't think I've ever been happier in my life. lol

Hoopy can I ask what file are you working on?

Is it a fictional database? Or a 2006-07 file?? Historic file?

If its a 2006-07 file... I would LOVE to get my hands on it :)

Congrats either way...

antigravity-

It is a fictional database based on tweaks I've made to the default database. I'm changing player names, randomizing the colleges they went to, and trying to get the rebounds, assists, shooting percentages, etc. a little more in line. It's a labor of love, emphasis on the labor part right now.

I have to say the bugs in this game are kind of a blessing in disguise, as I know about 500% more now about how this game works than I did two days ago. I've pretty much figured out a way to get around every bug I've encountered, even the submatrix problem.
